Barrar, House Committee to Vote on Bill to Provide Property Tax Exemption to Veteran’s Spouses

WHAT: Rep. Steve Barrar (R-Chester/Delaware), chairman of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, will hold a committee meeting to vote on three pieces of legislation:

• House Bill 697 would provide a property tax exemption for the surviving spouse of a soldier who is killed in action or died as a result of injury during active military service.
• House Bill 980 would provide for the exclusion of monetary veterans benefits as income in regard to income thresholds for various state benefit programs.
• Senate Bill 137 would codify the oversight of the Pennsylvania Civil Air Patrol under the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
