Delozier Continues to Lead Criminal Justice Reform Efforts
10/22/2020
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland), author of the groundbreaking Clean Slate Act of 2018, has successfully passed another piece of criminal justice reform legislation which now awaits Gov. Tom Wolf’s signature into law following bipartisan General Assembly approval Wednesday on her House Bill 440.

“Much like the Clean Slate Act, House Bill 440 drew overwhelming bipartisan support that has translated into near unanimous votes at every step in the legislative process,” said Delozier. “My hope is Gov. Tom Wolf recognizes that and signs my bill that would help Pennsylvanians return to the work force as part of a productive lifestyle.”

House Bill 440 would expunge the criminal history record of an individual who has been unconditionally pardoned or fully acquitted following a trial. It would also work to update the Clean Slate Law passed two years ago to help more Pennsylvania residents.

“As we have seen with the Clean Slate Law, good public policy can have an impact across the Commonwealth,” Delozier added. “House Bill 440 is a product of my working in a bipartisan, bicameral manner once again to help many Pennsylvanians become employed, productive members of our communities.”
