Metcalfe, ERE Committee Set to Advance High Priority Regulatory Reform Legislation
WHAT: PA House Environmental Resources and Energy (ERE) Committee Majority Chairman Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) will convene a voting meeting to advance several pieces of legislation to rein in regulatory overreach across the Commonwealth.
These reform measures include amending the Regulatory Review Act to require economically significant regulations receive approval from the General Assembly before going into effect (
House Bill 72); increasing permitting process transparency within state agencies (
House Bill 139); and establishing regulatory compliance officers within state agencies to encourage collaboration with the regulated community in resolving non-compliance issues, rather than punitively imposing penalties (
House Bill 288).
