Ortitay to Lead Second Hearing on Special Education
WHAT: Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny), chair of the House Education Subcommittee on Special Education, will lead a second subcommittee public hearing on the delivery of special education services to students in the Commonwealth. This is a continuation of a hearing held in October, and this time will gather testimony from school personnel and parents.
WHO: Ortitay; members of the Subcommittee on Special Education; Dr. David Lillenstein, school psychologist in the Derry Township School District; Jennifer Senavaitis, certified school counselor at the Whitehall-Coplay Middle School; Tanner Jones, social worker with South Fayette Township School District; Ashley Pullum, director of special education with Philadelphia Charters for Excellence; Jeremy Hall and Christine Thomas, special education teachers in the South Fayette School District; Isaiah Foust, positive behavior intervention and supports coordinator for The School at McGuire; Denika Chilton, parent in the York City School District; Alan Shuckrow and Jennifer Anke Shuckrow, parents of students at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children; Beverly Caldwell, parent of a student at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf; and Irene Connolly, parent of a student at PA Cyber.
