Richland to Receive GEDTF Grants, Mizgorski Says
1/31/2022
ALLEGHENY COUNTY – Rep. Lori Mizgorski (R-Allegheny) has announced that Richland Township and Pine-Richland Youth Center are recipients of Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund (GEDTF) grants. The grants fund community projects in Allegheny County through a tax assessed on slot games in casinos.

Richland Township will be awarded a $305,000 grant administered through the North Hills Council of Governments for the Gibsonia Road and Community Center Drive Intersection Improvement project. Improvements include excavation work, traffic protection during construction, drainage, signage, pavement markings, new left turn lanes, utility pole relocation, and engineering and inspection.

“As a former local elected official and someone who has enjoyed many events at the Richland Community Park, I understand the importance of this community asset.” Mizgorski said. “I was proud to advocate for this specific project which will improve access to the park and increase safety while driving through the intersection.”

The Pine-Richland Youth Center will receive $95,000 for its community sports non-profit facility rehabilitation project. Improvements include replacement of original athletic flooring and other updates to the facilities.

“Children from across the region have enjoyed participating in sport programs and recreational activities at the Pine-Richland Youth Center for years,” Mizgorski continued. “The center gives our children a safe, fun and encouraging place to spend their time. The building is in need of updating, and I was pleased to advocate for funding to assist with the renovation plan.”
