Delozier Bill Updating Uniform Construction Code Goes to the Governor’s Desk
HARRISBURG – Legislation authored by state Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier (R-Cumberland) that would allow refrigerants in the Commonwealth to be listed as acceptable alternatives to hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) under the federal Clean Air Act is headed to Gov. Tom Wolf’s desk for his signature.
House Bill 2079 will resolve a conflict between the technical side of the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) in Pennsylvania and the federal law regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s required refrigerants.
“The change this legislation makes will reduce greenhouse gasses emitted by HFCs. By updating the UCC to permit the use of alternate refrigerants, more jobs will be created to fill the emerging market for newer refrigeration products and technology.
“I am proud to sponsor a bill that will have positive impacts on both the environment and the economy. I would like to thank my House and Senate colleagues for their bipartisan support in keeping Pennsylvania at the forefront of the manufacturing industry.
