House Manufacturing Caucus to Visit Franklin County Plants
WHAT: Members of the House Legislative Manufacturing Caucus, co-chaired by Reps. Eli Evankovich (R-Westmoreland/Allegheny) and Mike Schlossberg (D-Lehigh), will tour the Volvo Construction Equipment and Manitowoc Cranes facilities in Franklin County. The tours will be hosted by Reps. Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin) and Paul Schemel (R-Franklin).
Volvo employs more than 1,000 workers at its Shippensburg-area plant, where soil and asphalt compactors, motor graders, pavers and screeds, wheel loaders and milling machines are manufactured.
Manitowoc manufactures mobile hydraulic cranes at its facility in Shady Grove. The companies are two of Franklin County’s major employers.
The bipartisan caucus has more than 100 members who are working to assist Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector by focusing on related issues and legislation. The manufacturing industry employs more than a half million people and supports three times as many jobs throughout the Commonwealth, in addition to generating hundreds of millions of dollars in tax revenue annually.
