House State Government Committee to Take Action on Legislature Reduction Proposals
WHO: Pennsylvania House State Government Committee Majority Chairman Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) will convene a voting meeting to consider two pieces of legislation to reduce the size of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
WHAT: Sponsored by Rep. Jerry Knowles (R-Berks/Carbon/Schuylkill), House Bill 153 would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to reduce the number of seats in the Pennsylvania House from 203 to 153. Sponsored by Rep. Fred Keller (R-Union/Snyder), House Bill 384 would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to reduce the number of seats in the Pennsylvania Senate from 50 to 37.
Both bills must be passed during two consecutive legislative sessions and then placed on the ballot as a referendum question for voters.
