HARRISBURG -- Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia) was sworn in today to serve the people of the 170th District in Northeast Philadelphia.
“It is an honor to serve the people of Northeast Philadelphia, and I assure them that I will continue my fight for the working men and women of our city,” White said. “That means working for better schools, fairer taxes and a state economy that produces better-paying jobs.”

White was elected in the March 24 special election to complete the term of former Rep. Brendan Boyle, who resigned after winning a seat in Congress.
Prior to taking office, White was a financial adviser at Independence Wealth Strategies.
“From my position, I could see the difficulties families and job creators faced,” White said. “I worked with families struggling to build better lives for their children. Working people are the heart of our state, and I am honored to be their voice in Harrisburg.”
When she graduated Elizabethtown College in 2010, she became the first member of her immediate family to graduate from college.
White was raised in Somerton and lives in the Parkwood neighborhood of Philadelphia.
She is presently working to establish a district office.
