Quinn Selected to Serve on Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee
3/31/2015
HARRISBURG – Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-Bucks) has been appointed to serve on the Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee by Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny). The committee consists of 18 members of the state House and Senate and serves the Pennsylvania General Assembly as well as the people of the Commonwealth.

The bipartisan committee conducts studies, holds hearings and makes recommendations to the General Assembly on a variety of environmental issues. It also makes recommendations regarding the custodianship and care of land, water and air in the Commonwealth to determine where there are problems, possible solutions and what can be done to initiate positive change.

“I look forward to using this opportunity to work with the other committee members to provide timely and relevant information on a variety of environmental topics,” Quinn said. “Decisions that this committee makes will impact the environmental legacy we preserve for future generations.”

Recent issues that the committee has focused upon include forestry; electronic waste recycling; state parks; land, sewer and water infrastructure; prescribed fire; and Pennsylvania's heritage areas.

The committee also studies air and water pollution laws and their enforcement, and recommends needed changes to the General Assembly.
