House Speaker Taps Lewis for Committee Leadership Post
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Andrew Lewis (R-Dauphin) has been named secretary of the House Urban Affairs Committee for the 2019-20 Legislative Session.
“My team and I have hit the ground running from day one to bring real reform to Harrisburg and get results for the people of the 105th District. I am honored by the trust Speaker of the House Mike Turzai and Urban Affairs Chairwoman Sue Helm have placed in me with this appointment and am excited for the opportunity to take a leadership role in this important committee,” Lewis said. “The Urban Affairs Committee aims to support and restore the health of our state’s largest cities, including Harrisburg where thousands of my constituents work every day. I especially want to help our cities realize their potential as economic hubs in the Commonwealth.”
The House Urban Affairs Committee reviews legislation affecting cities’ issues like urban redevelopment, housing, land use planning and zoning, infrastructure financing, growth management, and public services like police, fire, water and sewage.
Lewis also serves on the Finance, State Government and Liquor Control committees in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
The 105th Legislative District includes West Hanover, South Hanover and Lower Paxton townships in the greater Harrisburg area.
