Today, House Democrats unveiled a new budget proposal that increases state spending at an alarming rate. Their current proposal is a 10.6% increase in spending from last year’s budget, which simply aims to spend money we don’t have. After depleting our Rainy Day and reserve funds, this irresponsible spending plan will force the General Assembly to come back to taxpayers for more, if passed. State government needs to spend within its means, just like households and businesses across the Commonwealth.

Rep. Delozier Comments on Clean Slate Legislation

Today, House Bill 689 passed the House. This Clean Slate expansion bill adds to the original legislation authored by Rep. Jordan Harris and I, by allowing the sealing of certain low-level, nonviolent felony drug crimes after 10 years without recidivism. This legislation does not address a Republican or Democrat issue, but rather a people issue and a fairness issue. I am glad my colleagues in the House recognized the importance and benefits of this legislation and approved the bill. House Bill 689 has strong public support and there are no groups who have voiced opposition.
