State Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana) is a member of the House Children and Youth Committee, which held an April 11 informational hearing on Pennsylvania’s Children’s Trust Fund (CTF), which supplies grants to community-based groups whose focus includes preventing child abuse and neglect. CTF is funded primarily by a $10 surcharge on all marriage licenses and divorce complaint applications, both of which are on the decline. He's a cosponsor of House Bill 2437, which would allow individuals renewing registrations or a driver’s license to include an optional $5 donation to the CTF. During the hearing, Struzzi asked Bruce Clash from CTF’s board of directors about the need for that funding, as well as the board not having a full complement of representatives from the Senate due to a lack of appointees by Gov. Tom Wolf.
