HARRISBURG – Rep. Eric Nelson (R-Hempfield) issued the following statement in response to the House approving changes to the state’s pension plan:

“This plan is the first step in implementing meaningful pension reform. It will stop the pension hole from growing; however, it does not address the considerable debt we have accrued, so our work is not done by any means. On the positive side, the bill will provide future employees with retirement security and allow them greater control of their savings. This shared risk plan is one of the strongest plans in the nation. It is huge for Pennsylvania, as it shifts the risk away from taxpayers and our school districts when the market takes a downturn.”
