HARRISBURG – Rep. Karen Boback (R-Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming) announces the record-high funding allocated to preK-12 education in the 2021-22 state budget.
“As a former educator for over 33 years, I have made it a priority of my legislative career to continue to make sure that we invest in our next generation,” said Boback. “Many of our students and teachers have faced a multitude of setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this record-high funding of over $13 billion to preK-12 education, we have laid out a plan of recovery for our children. This budget has secured nearly $61 million for public schools across the 117th Legislative District, through basic education funding. While preserving Pennsylvanians’ tax dollars, we are laser focused on ensuring that our students receive the education they deserve and are prepared for tomorrow’s workforce.”
The 2021-22 state budget education funding is broken down as follows:
Basic Education received $7 billion ($300 million increase).
Early Childhood Education received $311.5 million ($30 million increase).
Special Education received $1.24 billion ($50 million increase).
School districts across the 117th Legislative District received $60.67 million in Basic Education Funding ($1.33 million increase).
