HARRISBURG – Yesterday, Gov. Tom Wolf addressed the General Assembly to propose his 2016-17 fiscal year budget. State Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Fulton/Franklin) issued the following statement in response to the governor’s address:

“I'm beyond disappointed with the governor’s campaign-style speech. I can't call it a budget address because he didn't present any details, but it's clear that he continues to chase after these massive increases in spending and taxes. However, you can't claim there is a critical budget deficit and at the same time call for an increase in spending...the math simply doesn't work. The government cannot continue to grow at a greater pace than our economy, and in this economic climate, raising taxes to historic levels is wrong, both fiscally and morally. The governor is still not being realistic and that needs to change very soon.”
