HARRISBURG– Rep. David Millard (R-Berwick) issued the following statement in response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s 2016-17 budget proposal, which would increase the Personal Income Tax paid by working Pennsylvanians and small businesses by 11 percent, along with several other tax increases:

“Gov. Wolf’s proposal is no improvement over last year’s budget proposal, which resulted in the longest budget impasse in Pennsylvania history. It does absolutely nothing to control the cost of government, while asking people to send more and more of their hard-earned money to Harrisburg.

“Raising taxes should be our last budgeting resort, after all other cost-saving measures have been considered and all government waste has been cut, not our first course of action. As we begin the budgeting process I will stand up for the taxpayers I represent. You cannot spend what you do not have, plain and simple.”
