HARRISBURG – Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) issued the following statement after the Senate voted to join the House in bringing an end to the state’s budget impasse:

“This evening from the Senate gallery, I was pleased to witness the Senate come together in a bi-partisan fashion to pass a responsible budget to end the state’s impasse and get money flowing to our schools and social service agencies.

“The budget, House Bill 1460, which was previously approved by the House, is a $30.3 billion, full-year budget that can be signed by the governor today. The spending plan contains record investments in PreK-12 education, a total increase of $405 million.”

“I urge Gov. Wolf to do his part to sign the final, responsible, bi-partisan, balanced budget on his desk and end the impasse. If he vetoes this plan, he is responsible for allowing our schools, senior centers, day cares and social service agencies to close. Local school districts cannot wait any longer.”
