HARRISBURG – On Tuesday, the House Republican Caucus elected Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) to the position of its whip for the 2023-24 Legislative Session.

“It is an honor to be chosen by my peers to help lead the caucus for the next two years,” O’Neal said. “I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work helping to continue to make the Commonwealth a place where people want to live and work. I look forward to helping to guide our caucus in a mission to uphold fiscal responsibility, limited government and policies that promote strong communities.”

As whip, O’Neal will be responsible for tracking House votes and informing his other 100 Republican colleagues of upcoming issues and legislation. Currently, O’Neal serves on the Appropriations, Environmental Resources and Energy, Insurance, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees.

O’Neal was first elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives following a May 2018 special election. In January, he will begin his third full term. A life-long resident of southwestern Pennsylvania, O’Neal graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). While an undergraduate, he served in the ROTC program at IUP and was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. After graduation, he served on active duty including a tour in Afghanistan, rising to the rank of captain. While in combat, he was awarded the Bronze Star with “V” for valor.

Once O’Neal returned from active duty, he settled back in southwestern Pennsylvania and earned his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business. After working in the energy industry, he was a human resources director for a construction company before his election. O’Neal resides in South Strabane Township with his wife, Julia, and their three children, Lucy, Daniel and Simon.

Joining O’Neal in the House Republican Leadership team for the 2023-24 Legislative Session are:

• Leader: Rep. Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster)
• Appropriations Chair: Rep. Seth Grove (R-York)
• Caucus Chairman: Rep. George Dunbar (R-Westmoreland)
• Caucus Secretary: Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia)
• Caucus Administrator: Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland)
• House Republican Policy Committee Chair: Rep. Josh Kail (R-Beaver/Washington)
