HARRISBURG – A pair of proposals from Rep. Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland) is serving as the foundation for the “Pennsylvania Families Tax Relief” series of tax cut measures unveiled today at a Capitol press conference in Harrisburg.
Kutz is working on legislation that would provide several exemptions to sales tax paid by families as they are caring for small children. The exemptions would include books, toys, cribs, strollers and youth sports equipment.
Additionally, he is seeking to increase Pennsylvania’s Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit. His proposal would match the federal credit of $3,000 for an individual and $6,000 for a household with two adult caregivers over a three-year period.
“Pennsylvanians are facing substantial inflationary pressure in addition to an already significant tax burden. As families are struggling to make ends meet, we have a duty to provide much-needed tax relief. I’m proud to join my colleagues in providing tax relief for families so that we can help young adults plant roots in the state and grow the economy,” Kutz said.
Kutz is also co-sponsoring a number of other measures in this package, including a proposal for a permanent Gross Receipts Tax exemption on electric bills, a reduction in the Personal Income Tax, and a permanent Sales and Use Tax exemption for personal emergency responder equipment.
