HARRISBURG – Rep. Dane Watro (R-Luzerne/Schuylkill) today was appointed to serve on the Education Committee in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 2023-24 Legislative Session.

“I am grateful to Republican leadership for assigning me to a committee that does such important work for students, families and communities across the Commonwealth,” said Watro. “I look forward to developing legislation that helps to improve the quality of our educational system, from pre-school to the college classroom.”

The House Education Committee works on state issues involving public and private schools, encompassing pre-K through grade 12 basic education, as well as post-secondary education.

At the start of the current session Watro was named to the Children and Youth, Local Government, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees.

Standing committees are a cornerstone of the legislative process. All bills are assigned to a committee to undergo review. Committees may hold hearings on legislation, consider amendments to pending bills and report them to the full House for a vote.
