INDIANA – As part of a continuing investment in communities across the state, Rep. Dave Reed (R-Indiana) today detailed the $534,169 generated by Act 13 impact fees in 2014 which will return to Indiana County.

The impact fee on the Marcellus Shale industry was created with the signing of Act 13 in 2012. This is the fourth year funding has been allocated. Since then, the fee has generated approximately $850 million for communities across the Commonwealth, including approximately $3 million for Indiana County.

“Funds from the impact fee are put to work in our communities, fixing and maintaining roads and bridges,” Reed said. “This funding is also used for social service programs and the protection of clean drinking water, which is perhaps our most important resource.”

The county will see $246,000 in disbursements from 2014. In addition, its municipalities will share more than $288,000. Townships receiving the highest amount in impact fee revenue are Center, Cherryhill, Green, North Mahoning and White.
