HARRISBURG – Rep. David Maloney (R-Berks) today remarked on the governor’s speech presenting his vision of the Pennsylvania 2025-26 budget before a joint session of the General Assembly.
The governor proposed a nearly $51.5 billion spending plan, which is a $3.57 billion (7.5%) increase over the current fiscal year:
“The governor again played word games with property taxes today by conflating the state’s Property Tax Rent/Rebate program, which is a separate law, with the Homestead/Farmstead exemption contained in the state Constitution, which I amended to provide 100% property tax exclusion.
“If the governor were sincere, he would work with the General Assembly on enacting legislation that would bring that amendment to fruition. Instead, today we again heard the governor tell us that Pennsylvania’s job creators are too rich and need to ‘pay their fair share.’
“The governor should know that America was literally fought for and founded on private property rights and not paying taxes to an unresponsive tyrant.”
