WHAT: PA House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee Chairman Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) will convene an informational meeting featuring a presentation from PJM Interconnection on wholesale electricity markets.
PJM Interconnection is the regional transmission organization responsible for the movement of wholesale electricity in all or parts of 13 states, including Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.
Organized wholesale electricity markets were created to address ever-increasing prices and to encourage innovation through free-enterprise competition. This competition has resulted in a less expensive, more reliable and cleaner electricity grid that can offer market-based solutions to changes in public policy and the industry.
