HARRISBURG – Working to boost the state’s energy economy, Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) announced that his PIPE Investment Program legislation, House Bill 1103, was passed by a vote of 14-6 by the House Finance Committee. His bill now moves to the full House for consideration.
“All of our residents and manufacturers across the Commonwealth should have equal access to Pennsylvania’s affordable natural gas,” said Fritz. “My legislation would not only establish equal access to this low-cost fuel but will allow our economy to flourish and grow family-sustaining jobs. I want to thank the House Finance Committee for passing this crucial piece of legislation”
If enacted,
House Bill 1103 will make grants available to construct the last few miles of distribution lines to business parks and existing manufacturing and industrial enterprises, accelerate beneficial deployment of low-cost energy and result in the creation of new jobs in the Commonwealth while providing access to natural gas for residents.
Fritz’s bill also accomplishes the following:
• Opens existing grants to large residential conversion projects and combined heat and power applications.
• Increases the maximum grant amount from $1 million to $1.5 million.
• Provides for an additional $500,000 grant for tapping projects.
• Directs the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to develop streamlined guidelines to expedite applications for grants of $75,000 or less.
