Jones Comments on Property Tax Elimination Plan

I supported legislation by Rep. Frank Ryan (R-Lebanon) that would have eliminated property taxes for every Pennsylvanian and shifted the burden to other taxes that would have been fair and equitable. The proposal was rejected by many, particularly seniors, who misunderstood the bill’s plan to tax retirement income. The state director of the AARP expressed his support for the elimination of property taxes and I urged him to help us educate the public on the benefits of this proposal.
