The Pennsylvania House on Wednesday took up debate on gaming expansion legislation that may be the final piece of the funding puzzle for this year's state budget. Majority Leader Dave Reed said the bill which was amended by the Senate on Wednesday evening represents a long process of compromise and is expected to generate much needed revenues for state government. The House is expected to vote on the gaming expansion package on Thursday.

Mark Mustio (R-Allegheny) was joined by Rep. Kurt Masser (R-Columbia, Montour & Northumberland) in urging approval of legislation that would license and tax the unregulated video gaming terminal business already operating in many bars and clubs across the Commonwealth. Rep. Benninghoff Calls on Gov. Wolf to Sign Cost Saving Welfare Reform Legislation

House Republican lawmakers are calling on Governor Wolf to sign welfare reform legislation now on his desk to help control spending on state human services programs that are growing at a rate that outpaces available revenue. House Bill 59 would help contain costs for entitlement programs and includes reasonable reforms like work or job search requirements for able-bodied Medicaid recipients. House Republican leaders and a large number of rank and file members joined Tuesday in asking for the governor to sign the reform bill and not follow through on his threatened veto. Majority Policy Committee Chairman Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) commented at the Capitol press conference on the bill.
