HARRISBURG – In order to help revitalize areas where abandoned or blighted properties are located, Rep. Judy Ward (R-Blair) has introduced legislation approved by the House Urban Affairs Committee that would allow developers and property owners to receive a tax abatement incentive once they apply and are approved to rebuild upon an abandoned property or in a deteriorated area.

Legislation to Increase Penalties for Concealing Identity While Committing Robbery Passes House, Says Regan

HARRISBURG – Legislation designed to make sentencing tougher on criminals who hide their faces during the commission of a robbery passed the House this week, said the bill’s author, Rep. Mike Regan (R-York/Cumberland). The bill, if enacted, would specifically call upon the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing to increase the sentence range for a person who commits a robbery while concealing, or trying to conceal, all or part of his or her face during a robbery.

Legislation Allowing Pharmacists to Offer Flu Shots to Children Passes House, Grove Says

HARRISBURG – Legislation which would increase access by allowing pharmacists to offer flu vaccines to children ages 9 and older, with parental permission, passed the House today, Rep. Seth Grove (R-York), the author of the bill, said. House Bill 182, if eventually signed into law, would also allow licensed pharmacy interns under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to administer the vaccine.

Hickernell and Aument Introduce School Funding Guarantee Legislation

House Insurance Committee to Consider Bill to Extend CHIP

WHAT: The House Insurance Committee, chaired by Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna), will consider legislation she has sponsored (House Bill 857) to extend the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) through Dec. 31, 2017. The program is expected to sunset by Dec. 31, 2015. In Pennsylvania, more than 145,000 children are currently enrolled in CHIP.
