This is the 10th anniversary of the PA Targeted Industry Program (PA-TIP), which provides financial awards for students who have the skills that are in high demand by today's employers. During the March 8 afternoon House Appropriations Committee budget hearing, state Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana) asked PA Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) Vice President Elizabeth McCloud for an assessment on how the program is doing.

Culver Discusses Nursing Loan Forgiveness Program

A shortage of nurses existed before the COVID-19 pandemic, which has only exacerbated the problem. Last September, the General Assembly created a student loan forgiveness program as part of a nursing workforce initiative. During the March 8 afternoon's budget hearing, state Rep. Lynda Culver (R-Northumberland/Culver) asked representatives from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) to discuss how the program worked.
