They are called "state-related schools," and each year, Penn State, Pitt, Temple, Lincoln and the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine testify before the House Appropriations Committee because of the manner in which they are funded. During the March 8 morning budget hearing, state Rep. Lynda Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) asked Penn State President Dr. Eric Barron about the viability of the school's 20 satellite campuses.
