Michael Corr (R-Montgomery), who begins his tenure serving the people of the 150th legislative district in Montgomery County. Rep. Mike Turzai Re-Elected for a Second Term as Speaker of the PA House

The 2017-18 Session of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives opened Tuesday with the election of Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) as speaker after 200 members of the General Assembly took their oaths of office. The House also adopted a set of rules governing how the body will operate. The new session will bring a 121 member Republican majority to the House, the largest single party majority in decades. In House floor comments following his election, Speaker Turzai called for bipartisan cooperation on the crucial legislative issues expected to face lawmakers in the new session including jobs, improving schools and the restructuring of state government.
