HARRISBURG— Yesterday, on the eve of the governor’s state budget address, Rep. House Moves Legislation to Mandate Probation for the Most Dangerous Sex Offenders

Jozwiak Meets with U.S. Marshals Who Helped to Capture Frein

Rep. Barry Jozwiak (R-Berks) this week in Harrisburg met Director of the U.S. Marshals Service Stacia Hylton and U.S. Marshal for the Middle District of Pennsylvania Martin J. Pane during their visit to the state Capitol. Hylton and Pane were part of a large team – along with other U.S. Marshals, Pennsylvania State Police officers and other law enforcement personnel – who worked together to track down and arrest Eric Frein. The Marshals involved received a House citation honoring their work. Frein hid in the woods for weeks after allegedly killing one Pennsylvania State Police officer and seriously wounding another Pennsylvania State Police Officer in September 2014.

Bill to Allow Private Sales of Wine and Liquor Clears House, Heads to Senate

HARRISBURG – The House today voted in favor of legislation sponsored by Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) aimed at reforming the way alcoholic beverages are sold in Pennsylvania. This fiscally responsible and consumer-driven wine and spirits privatization legislation would end the post-Prohibition state store system put in place by Pennsylvania’s then pro-temperance governor, Gifford Pinchot.

Helm Votes to End Pennsylvania’s Inefficient Liquor Store System

HARRISBURG – Citing concern over the increasing inefficiency of the state-owned liquor store system, Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin) today joined a majority of her colleagues in the House of Representatives in approving legislation that would turn the sale of wine and spirits over to private enterprise. Helm is a co-sponsor of House Bill 466, which now heads to the Senate for consideration. Similar legislation was approved by the House during the 2013-14 session but the Senate failed to take action.

House Passes Legislation That Would Privatize Alcohol Sales, Heffley Says

HARRISBURG – Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) today voted for a bill that would remove the government from the alcohol business by privatizing the sale of wine and spirits in Pennsylvania. House Bill 466 passed the House by a vote of 114-87 and now goes to the Senate for consideration.

Irvin Votes to End State Monopoly of Liquor Sales
